We are looking to recruit a part-time Conservation Housekeeper. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team and become part of a dedicated group of housekeepers who contribute to the long-term preservation of Westminster Abbey.
Visited by well over a million people a year, the Abbey is first and foremost a church, but also a leading London tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our collection spans over a thousand years and contains objects and monuments of both national and international importance, many of which are still used for their original purpose.
Conservation housekeeping forms the backbone of conservation at Westminster Abbey and poses an interesting set of challenges, some unique to a church setting. The team work to highly structured rotas which are tailor-made to meet the demands of a working church as well as the effects of mass tourism. In joining our team, you will help preserve the Abbey for future generations.
About You
We are seeking an individual with experience in a similar role within a heritage setting, who brings a keen understanding of conservation housekeeping practices. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, be organised, self-motivated, and diligent, with a genuine interest in the heritage sector and historic buildings. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential, as well as a flexible approach to tasks. If you're comfortable working at heights and thrive in an environment where precision and care are paramount, we want to hear from you!
