The Learning Department is introducing a new role to enhance the experience of formal learning groups visiting the Abbey. We’re looking for a friendly, proactive Learning Assistant to join the team on a short-term basis and help us trial this position.
What’s the role?
You’ll be based at the Groups’ Entrance, welcoming self-led school groups and ensuring they feel supported throughout their visit. You’ll also direct guided groups to the Learning Centre and assist with admin tasks when groups aren’t scheduled.
Key responsibilities include:
Greeting and supporting school groups on arrival.
Helping teachers with logistics (wristbands, clipboards, group sizes).
Giving a short welcome about the Abbey’s role and history.
Liaising with Abbey teams to ensure smooth visits.
Assisting with office tasks when needed.
What we’re looking for:
Strong communication skills and a welcoming approach.
Experience working with young people and adapting to different age groups.
A good understanding of the UK education system.
Team spirit, initiative, and resilience (including standing outside in all weathers!).
This is a great chance to work closely with the Learning Department and help shape how we welcome school groups in the future.
